Shake, Rattle and Roll

DAY TWETNTY-FOUR

It is possible for us to be moved by events or circumstances around us. A tornado hits, a hurricane is coming in our direction, the earth shakes in unprecedented ways or there is an upheaval in our personal lives. Is there a place where nothing upsets or disturbs us?

God makes strong. Whenever God is the center of a soul, city, community or country it becomes “…like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken” though disasters may crowd in on all sides and roar like the waves of the sea there is a peace that surpasses all understanding. This constant calm within, writes Leighton, is something that the world neither gives nor takes away. We shake like leaves at the first hint of danger because the world not God occupies the center of our being.

“God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.”

Psalm 46: 5

Lord, though the earth shakes we will not be afraid because you are our refuge and strength, a very present help in time of trouble.
