Strength For Today

Let us pray together:

O Lord, in this time of change and promise, strengthen us. You are our strength and our shield; You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. We know, Gracious God that your eyes go to and fro throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts long for you. Strengthen, Save and Stand

Creator God, we stand today in awesome wonder of your mighty works. You have set in motion the universe and still have time to create a day and a night just for us. You have so ordered the planets in their places and the seasons in their sequences.

Forgive us where we have failed. Strengthen us in our weak places and strengthen us again in the places where we have served you well. Save us from despair because of our spiritual shortcomings. Save us from over confidence because of our spiritual successes. Help us to run from complacency and run towards you daily our Christ, Amen.

Lord, teach me to resist the temptation to go along with the crowd or do my own thing my own way ignoring your way, will and word. Teach me not to allow my desires or the desires of friends and co-workers to guide me through the day. God, be my guide! I trust you with my future!

Give me the strength to face any challenge today and the courage to face every trial. In Jesus name, Amen.

Back on Track

Out of my distressed Lord, I called upon You. Thank you for answering me and helping me to get back on track. The stone that the builder rejected has become the foundation for my life. I give thanks to you for the invitation to a new life!

You have been with me; You live within me helping me to face the fears that well up inside me. Now, I'm not consumed by worry and fear that I may get off track again. I acknowledge your Presence within me and Your love surrounds me so that I am no longer overwhelmed.

Today, I shall live in peace and give witness to your saving grace. You are my strength and my song; You are my Counselor and Friend.

Rock Solid

Transforming Rock of our salvation, we confess that all other ground is sinking sand. You are our Rock, the foundation of our hope and the cornerstone of our faith.

If we should try to stand on other ground, we can do nothing; standing on your promises, we can do everything; standing on you we handle anything; standing on you nothing is impossible and standing on you, everything is possible.

Strengthen us, so that we are filled with the endurance of the mountains who stand against the onslaught on wind and rain. Strengthen us, so that we are filled with the spirit of the rivers who continue to flow against the forces that try to impede or dam them up. Fill us again with the joy of your abundant harvest, so that we may share your joy everywhere with everyone!

The Joy of The Lord

“ Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way. Let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.”

James 1: 2-3

Lord, there are times when we must confess that we cannot see troubles “ as an opportunity for joy” especially when we wrestle with the “what ifs” of life. Help us when we wonder what if things will work out; what if we can’t make it through the day; what if the problem continues; what if the check doesn’t clear; what if the prognosis is wrong; what if we can’t make ends meet; what if we can’t stay in business; what if we get paid late; what if it costs too much; what if this plan doesn’t work out or what if the report is false all threaten to rob us of your joy.

Help us to be joyful even when we face disappointments and difficult decisions. Empower us to rise above whatever tries to destroy this joy we have from you. Your joy is the strength of our lives! In Jesus name, Amen

Father, I pray for courage as I begin this day, for I understand there is work to be done, burdens to be carried, feelings to be shared and joys to be celebrated. Grant me the courage to be silent that I may hear Thy voice; to persevere, that I may share Thy victory; and to remember, lest I forget the way by which Thou has led me. And when this day is done, O Lord, may I have the courage to see Thy guiding hand in the friendships that have been made, in the hurts that have been healed, and in the strength that has been given. Strength to Climb

“The Lord is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him,…” Exodus 15: 2

Lord, you are my strength to climb the steep steps of difficulty without fear. You give me strength to languish in dark valleys and fear no evil for thou art with me. You give me strength to sit still amid overwhelming demands to wait for the kairos moment to move on. Thank you for the strength outside and beyond my human frailties, a strength that overcomes my weaknesses.

Order My Steps

Let's pray together:

Gracious God, how excellent is Your name in all the earth. Thank you Lord for today, for another opportunity to come before Your throne of grace, to magnify Your most holy Name. Thank you Lord that You aroused me from sleep on this morning and that new grace and mercy greeted me as I opened my eyes.

Father God, I am grateful that You sent Jesus to die on the cross for my sins that I can come directly to You and make my petitions known. You sacrificed Your best for me, so I want to give You my best on this day. I want to show You that I love You through my obedience.

Lord this day is Yours. I lay it before the foot of Your throne. Have Your way. You are the one who orders my steps and I put my trust in You. You are sovereign. You know Lord what I will face today and You have already made provision for all my needs. To that end, I trust You with my schedule, my time, and my life on this day.

Help me to sense Your guidance and give me strength to obey. I thank You for guiding me beside still waters; there is no need for me to fret because You are always with me.

Lord, I am overjoyed that assurance is mine because I submit this day to You. My plans will succeed as I allow your Holy Spirit to take full control. My life is in Your hands.

Prayer Experience

Four funerals in less than 2 weeks have made me pause to consider and reconsider God's call on my life to minister to those in need of hospice care. It is not that I fear death, but that I am sometimes at a loss for words of comfort. Telling someone to call me if they need me or saying, “I am here for you,” seems pointless and trivial. I certainly will not ask if there is anything I can do for them because once someone responded, “Can you bring my loved one back?” Yet, words are all I have to express my genuine concern and regards. My presence is felt, but what flows from my mouth is so very important. I know the person, who is mourning, is sad and so I don’t want to ask, “How are you?” I can see that they are crying, so I don’t want to give them permission to cry. I know that God will bring joy in the morning, but this is the night and to them their pain is unbearable.

Oh! Yes, this too shall pass, but when? When will they, the mourners, be made whole again? For instance, I still mourn my grandmother whom I cared for and was with when she died. I still mourn my great-grandfather who loved me beyond measure and taught me to love my neighbor as myself, and whom I cared for and watched die. I still mourn my sister, Denise, who was not a sister by blood but a sister/daughter/friend by circumstance and choice and love; who died too young, moments before our last good-bye. How do I care for those whose days are numbered? What do I say to their families? How do I prepare my family for our own deaths?

My prayer: Lord, you’ve given me this cup and I don’t ask you to take it away rather I ask only that you strengthen me to carry it. Give me the words Lord to say to those who mourn, to those who are dying, to those in need. Lord, let them see you through me; hide me Lord, my needs, my desires, my wants, and my doubts. Speak to them in words I cannot imagine. Comfort them so that my a rms reveal your presence, my hugs reveal your love, and my tongue reveals your heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
