Finished

My God, My God, it is finished. You have worked the salvation plan doing everything that Infinite Love could do to save us. May we, my God, do everything we can to live today and everyday within that saving love. Give us the power of the Holy Spirit to live a saved life.

Yes Lord, it is finished but it is not over. This ending is just the beginning. In Jesus name, Amen.

The Welcome Table

We sit at the table with you today Lord breaking bread to remember your cross broken body and drinking the never-spilt but shed wine to remember that your blood was shed for our sins that created a new mercy seat.

Thank you for enlarging our future with your sacrifice and changing the equation from law to grace. Thank you for setting the table so that all of us can dine sufficiently for it is neither Greek nor Jew, male nor female, bond nor free. We're all one in Christ Jesus. Bread of heaven feed us until we want now more. In Jesus name, Amen

Just A Little Faith

“Why are you fearful, O you of Little Faith

Matthew 8:26

Cause us to hear your loving-kindness in the morning, for in you do we trust. We continue to stand in awesome wonder of your great and mighty works. Thank you for reaching beyond our human faults and frailties to love us without wavering.

Hold us in the palm of your hand. Protect us even in shadows of threatening things or when haters encamp around us. Calm our fears, which try to immobilize our faith.

Even if we find ourselves at the breaking point, strengthen our faith so that we won’t break confidence in you. In Your name, Amen.

Day Break

Good morning Lord, we come to you committing this day to your hand. Guide us through the day, show us what we need to see, point us in the direction you want us to go teaching us what we need to learn and use us in your service so that others may see your good works and glorify the Father which is in heaven. In Your name, Amen.

Nourish Us

Nourish us of God, with your presence and your word. Help us to get to the place where we acknowledge both our sin and our arrogance in our views of ourselves. Empower us to overcome whatever challenges the new life we find in you. Encourage us to claim what you have promised us and forgive us of a past that falls short of your glory.

Send us now into this day to be your representative of good news. Sin, death and hell are overcome. O sin where is your sting, O death where is your grave. There is now no condemnation. Praise God, Praise God. Amen.

Thou Shall Not Worry

Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy about your life…”

Matthew 6:25

Lord, I confess that I’ve allowed worries and anxieties to occupy too much of my thought life. Forgive me for allowing this uneasiness to steal the joy and peace I’ve found in your Word and the solace found in prayer. Stress over the little things has blocked my view of the big things you continue to do for me and all of creation. I trust you to provide for every need. In the name of Jesus, free me so that I may worship and serve you with all my heart, mind and soul.

You love me and nothing can separate me from this love. You've heard my confession of sin. Thank you for forgiving me and cleansing me. Loving God, point me in the direction you want me to go. Choose the tasks you want me to do. Put me in the right crowd of people. Show me the plans you have for my future, plans not to harm but to prosper me. Amen.

Raise Our Voices

“…to bring good news to the poor…”

Luke 4: 18-19

Grant us courage today to raise our voices on behalf of those who have no other voice but ours. Help us to break down the walls of exclusion that separate us; Help us to reach beyond our comfort zones to bring water to desert places; take hope to those who have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Help us to be advocates for those who have little, less or none of the things we take for granted: fresh water, food and a safe place to live.

Forgive us when we have wasted precious resources, squandered provisions or opportunities to be a blessing to someone else. Thank you for another day and another chance to lift every voice and sing. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Friends

I want to thank you, Gracious Lord, for the good friends you give me; they are for me a priceless bounty. Thanks to them, friendship is neither an abstraction, nor a distant, almost impossible, dream. I owe to your providence, Lord, the possibility of counting on
the constant help of friends. Between them and me you have formed a solid bridge that can withstand all threats of destruction. The happiness with which you have blessed us
enables us to enrich one another.

Lord, there was something astonishing,
almost mysterious,
 in the way I met my friends;
it was always outside the expected pattern. But you alone know the reasons
that drew us closer together. This surprise and joy are refreshing, and I experience them anew
at every step of my life. Not all proved to be steadfast friends, but I have to thank you
 for the faithful ones.

I promise to do everything in my power
 to deserve this precious gift
that you have reserved for me. I ask you, Gracious Lord, to keep them safe in your hands, for they are yours above all. Amen.

Celebrate!

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Dear Lord,

Help us to remember today that everyday is a cause to celebrate! No matter what happens or who happens, there is always something to celebrate.
Today we will celebrate the gift of life. Thank you for giving us life, strength and as our mothers would say, a reasonable portion of health.
Today we will celebrate joy. The weeping is over and joy has met us in the morning. Today we celebrate your everlasting love because your perfect love casts out fear.

Today give us an opportunity to share a smile with someone who needs one. Give us a chance to hug someone we care about and mean it!

We are so consumed by the challenges of our community and country that we forget that there is a lot to be thankful for. Empower us to celebrate along the way today and not just at the end of the road. Today we rejoice and again I say rejoice! Amen and Amen!

No Matter What

"God so loved..."
John 3: 16

Loving Redeemer, you have called us in love and to love no matter what the cost. As you love us and forgive us in Jesus Christ, help us to love and forgive one another. Where there is estrangement for which we are responsible, show us how to be instruments of reconciliation. Where there is disruption for which we had a hand in, help us to become peace bringers and peacemakers.

May we embrace those who are experiencing grief, disease and depression. We pray today for their joy and health in their bodies, mind and spirit. We pray for wholeness that transcends even physical health. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Grant Us, O Lord

"The Lord has done great things for us; whereof we are glad."
Psalm 126:3

O Lord, today grant that we may become so aware of past providences that we shall have the confidence and the courage to face today, tomorrow and all the days, years and ages to come. Grant us the discernment to see the new things your are doing as old things pass away. Cleanse our hearts and purify our minds so that we may worship you today and serve you tomorrow in spirit and in truth.

Grant us the courage to change our lifestyles to embrace the new age now visible in the coming of your kingdom. Grant us the boldness to do what we've never done before ~ love justly, walk humble to do all things that are only possible through you. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Wash Day

Create in us a clean heart O God and renew a right spirit within us.

Psalm 51:10

Our desire today is that nothing stands between our soul and our redeemer. Forgive us of our sins. Our unconfessed sins are too much of a burden to bear. They constantly remind us of our weaknesses, faults and failings.

Thank you that we can confess our sins. Thank you for your promise that if we confess, you will be faithful to forgive us of all our sins. Wash us, cleanse our hearts, minds and bodies so that we can move forward today unshackled from sin, hurt and shame and in the future with renewed and right spirits within in us.

In the name of a forgiving Savior, let us all say, Amen.

As We Love You

O Lord, our prayer today is that we cultivate the capacity to embrace everyone as a child of God who is worthy of every good and perfect gift that comes from above including forgiveness, grace and the opportunity of a second chance.

As we love you with all of our hearts, minds and souls, we will also love our neighbors as we love ourselves. As we love you, help us to love ourselves even when the world does not affirm the love written deep into our DNA. As we love you, help us to love the neighbor who is hard to love and difficult to like. In Jesus name, we’ve come to know that faith, hope and love will remain when all else fades away.

Feed Us!

Eternal God, we emerge from the calm of the night to the chaos of a noisy world demanding more from us than we care to give. Forgive us when we have added to the cacophony of sounds that have hindered rather than helped.

We give thanks today for the simple things: the cup of something warm on a chilly morning, laughter from a neighbor, a smile from a stranger, the kindness of a friend, a seat on the bus, a break, the help from unexpected places, the whisper of a prayer and the generosity of heart, mind and spirit.

What a joy it is today to tell of your love that won’t leave us alone. Help us to pass on our faith as we move through this day to those who are not aware that they are really hungering and thirsting for the bread of heaven. In Jesus name, feed us until we can want no more!

Have It Your Way

God of Grace and God of Glory, continue to guide us through this Lenten journey. Lift us above the traps of unclean thoughts and unclear paths. Forgive us when we’ve allowed doubt and confusion to creep into our thinking. Free us from the temptation to judge others and to think of ourselves more highly than we ought.

Purify our motives so that we will be able to bring honor and glory to your name. Let our lights so shine! We don’t want right things to be messed over by our wrong reasons.

Have Thine own way, Lord with us today. Help us to be less absorbed with ourselves and more full of thee. In Jesus name, Amen.

Together We Can

God, my Friend,

I offer You each moment of this day:

whatever comes—the unexpected challenges,

diversions from my plans, the need-filled glance,

the expectations and complaints, the being taken for granted, the

slights and sleights-of-hand. I’d be grateful if You could keep me aware of

my pesky habits, like . . .

And, between us, perhaps we can enliven the spirits of

those I live and work with, like . . .

Whatever else befalls,

I trust we can cope with it,

together.

Amen.

William J. O’Malley

"We can ignore, but we can nowhere evade, the presence of God. The world is crowded with Him. He walks everywhere incognito. And the incognito is not always hard to penetrate. The real labour is to remember, to attend. In fact, to come awake. Still more, to remain awake."

C. S. Lewis, Letters To Malcolm

Giver of Wisdom

Almighty God, the Giver of Wisdom,
without whose help resolutions are vain,
without whose blessing study is ineffectual,
enable me, if it be Thy will,
to attain such knowledge as may qualify me
to direct the doubtful and instruct the ignorant,
to prevent wrongs, and terminate contentions;
and grant that I may use that knowledge which I shall attain, to Thy glory and my own salvation. So be it in Jesus name, Amen.

God Is Our Hope

God is our hope and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be moved, and though the hills be carried into the midst of the sea;
Psalms 46: 1-4

O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.
Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

WE

Dear God,

We stretch our arms to fully embrace you. In your Divine presence we can hear your voice whispering to tell us which way to go. We hear your call to communion with you and community with each other. We hear your call to faithfulness and obedience. We hear your call to worship and witness. We hear your call to serve because your power is at work in us and through us. We now respond to this call. Here we are Lord your servants are listening.

We are no longer trying to control our lives, each other and you. We walk through this day without fear because we remember that we do not have to walk alone. We have heard and we will act on what we've heard. In the name of Jesus, we walk in your love, which is a life-changing truth. Amen.

Indestructible Certainty

"O Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man."

Nehemiah 1:11

Eternal Redeemer, we boldly approach the throne of grace to call upon your name. Save us O God by your name and vindicate us by your might. In your presence there is an abiding sense of security and indestructible certainty that you love us with an everlasting love.

Thank you for your attentiveness to this prayer and to the prayers all who delight in you. Forgive us for the moments when our hearts strayed. We confess we've fallen short of your glory and rejoice that you are faithful to forgive us of our sins so that we can go forward in the present and the future as cleansed, restored and renewed.

Today, grant us favor in the presence of those we live and work with. Grant us favor in the presence of even our haters or those who do not have our best interest at heart. In the name above all names, Amen.
