Almighty and Everlasting God, we come seeking your face that we may know your will. We come seeking your hand as every good and perfect gift comes from you. We come seeking your presence as in your presence our souls take delight.

Forgive us when we sought others before we sought you in prayer and in your Word. You promised “Seek and you will find”. We claim now that promise for ourselves. We come with our hearts and dreams in our hand seeking answers, solutions, opportunity, strength, deliverance from all our fears. In Jesus name, Amen.

Lord of Creation, you are the source of all things, the author of all knowledge and the architect of reality. Forgive us when we have had lapses and mistakenly thought we were the beginning and end of all things.

Awaken us today to the need to give serious attention to following the leadership of the Holy Spirit. Soften our souls that we may be open to the promptings your Spirit to speak and serve, move and minister, comfort and care.

May our love be genuine. May our purpose steadfast and our vision crystal clear. May we measure our words so that our yeas will be yeas and our nays nay. And finally let us be as generous with others as you have been to us. In Jesus name, Amen.

Soul Prospering

“ For My thoughts are not your thoughts, 
nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts."

Isaiah 55: 8-9

Lord, we come to you today with all our plans held in abeyance. We look to you to guide us through the day your way without following our habitual practices and plans. We trust you to navigate us in the way we should go because your ways are not our ways just as your thoughts are dissimilar to ours.

Lord, be with our head and our understanding. Be with our heart so that love abounds. May our souls prosper today and always. In Jesus name, accomplish your purpose in our lives according to your timetable. Amen.

A Fresh Break In

O Lord, our God, you have called us to be your people and to bring honor and glory to your name. We confess today, that we have tried to figure things out on our own and have failed. We relied on our intellect and education and still insight alludes us. We counseled with friends who have wrestled with similar struggles to no avail. We sat with those who have specialized knowledge but new issues arise and the mystery deepens.

O Lord, Our God, we need your Holy Spirit to break into our lives afresh. Fill us with your truth and ”… grant us wisdom for the facing of this hour.” Give us renewed strength to deal with the multitude of issues we face in this world. Empower us with your power that meets our weakness with a power not our own. In Jesus name, lead us through the moments of this day anticipating the joy that will be ours when we experience your grace, Amen.

Do the Good

Romans 7:19

By the grace of God, you have allowed us to see another day. Forgive us for the moments we wasted in the previous day and help us not to make the same mistakes twice. The good we would do, we want to do today. The not so good that constantly calls us, we want to turn a deaf ear.

Lord, open our eyes that we may see you working behind the scenes of our lives. Open our hands that we may share generously the gifts you have provided. Open our mouths to speak on behalf of those who cannot speak for themselves. Open our mind to receive new ideas, concepts and innovations. Open our hearts to love our neighbor and ourselves better today than yesterday. Help us to be more open to your Word so that we will be hearers and doers of your Word. It is in the name of Jesus we pray, Amen

Live Without Regrets

Lord, today we bring to you are hopes and our fears. We hope to rise above self-serving and fear that we'll only get half way. We hope to take advantage of all the opportunities you place in our path and fear they will slip through our fingers like water through a sieve. We hope to walk more closely with you and fear that you will order our steps to take to far from our comfort zone. We hope to hear your voice behind us telling us which way to go and we fear the voices of others will sway us more.

Strengthen us now in our inner being. Give us a love that cast away all fears and a faith that is the substance of all we hope for. We want to go where you lead us whether others agree with it or not. We want to do what you call us to do. We want to grasp the potential of this day and live without regrets. In the name of Jesus, deliver us from everything that keeps us from moving forward confidently!

A Prayer For Graduates

Dear God,

Thank you for giving the class of 2011 the opportunity to engage in critical thinking and learn new disciplines. Help them now to apply what they have learned in positive and productive ways.

Help them to see that the end of one journey is just a beginning of another. Grant them the wisdom to discern next step and start up scenarios. Grant them the courage to test their new skills and stretch out in new directions. Grant them the strength to try their dreams and keep trying until they come true.

Lord, we know you have plans for their lives, plans not to harm them but to prosper. We pray today that they will discern the call you have upon their lives and the future that you have in mind. Protect them from those that seek to destroy their potential and derail their dreams.

May the blessings of Christ go with them today as they celebrate this achievement and those to come. May they always find strength in their faith in God and turn to God when they need strength beyond human capacity In Jesus name, AMEN
