The Promise

John 14:15–31

How comforting to know that no matter what the circumstances Jesus will never abandon us. Even in our darkest moments, when the He seems far away, His departure is temporary. More important, each new encounter with Jesus offers something that will change us, yet again, at the core of who we are.

The Disciples probably could not comprehend what Jesus ws telling them, though that seems strange, after having witness the resurrection of Lazarus. How short lived our faith in miracles! But, Jesus must have known that they did not fully understand. “Oh ye of little faith!” Jesus is being transparent so that one day, the disciples can look back and connect the dots. When the Holy Spirit falls on them fire, they will remember Jesus’ promise to send a comforter.

The prophetic Jesus teaches us that our faith is grounded in reality. It is not blind trust, or misguided hope. Each time we experience the miracle working power of God in or lives, we are reminded that God’s power has been active in our lives many times before and will be many times to come.

The Holy Spirit is the fulfillment of Gods promise to be with us even until the end of the world. Not just as a singular or momentary visitor evoking emotional response to God’s presences, but as a partner that confirms the validity of our convictions and faith over and over again by being active in our daily lives.

THE LENTEN JOURNEY: YEA THO' I WALK

Remember to continue to increase your prayer time daily and dig deeper into the Word of God, especially today's passage John 14: 15-31. How are you dealing with the Daniel fast? Still on or off? If off, just jump back on again!!

Breathe On Us

Let us pray together:

Breathe on us, breath of God. Fill us with life anew.
Come and breathe on the anxieties that are capable of keeping us from You. Breathe on the habits that keep us from doing Your will and Your word. Breathe on the thoughts that hold us back. Breathe on the weaknesses that hold us down.

Enable us Holy Spirit to discover the vast sources of power, strength and trust you have made available to us in our innermost heart. Breathe on us, breathe of God!

In Jesus name, Amen

Holy Spirit Power!

"...let your light so shine, that others may see your good works and glorify God which is in heaven"

Matthew 5: 16

O Lord, keep us focused today on your divine call to be your witnesses with Holy Spirit power in places close to home and in places beyond our comfort zones. Go with us as we seek to serve and bear witness to your appearing and to your pursuit of salvation for all people. Give us opportunity to share our story of your goodness and your love. Help to live the story in such a way that others will rise up and call you blessed. In Jesus' name. Amen.

A Fresh Break In

O Lord, our God, you have called us to be your people and to bring honor and glory to your name. We confess today, that we have tried to figure things out on our own and have failed. We relied on our intellect and education and still insight alludes us. We counseled with friends who have wrestled with similar struggles to no avail. We sat with those who have specialized knowledge but new issues arise and the mystery deepens.

O Lord, Our God, we need your Holy Spirit to break into our lives afresh. Fill us with your truth and ”… grant us wisdom for the facing of this hour.” Give us renewed strength to deal with the multitude of issues we face in this world. Empower us with your power that meets our weakness with a power not our own. In Jesus name, lead us through the moments of this day anticipating the joy that will be ours when we experience your grace, Amen.

Peak to Peak

“But the path of righteous people is like the light of dawn that becomes brighter and brighter until it reaches midday.”

Proverbs 4: 18

Righteous God, govern and guide us through this day that we may be a light in a darkened world. Help us to grow in faith from the tiniest display on the horizon to a bold proclamation of your grace and glory.

Grant us a greater measure of your Holy Spirit so that as our light shines others will see you working in, through and around us. Help us to shine so that others will see your good works and glorify You day by day.

As the sun peaks in its daily journey, it still has a long way to go before sunset. As we are on this Christian journey go with us from peak to peak until our light comes to a glorious crescendo in celebration of eternal life. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

PRAYER QUOTE

"We are too busy to pray, and so we are too busy to have power. We have a great deal of activity but we accomplish little; many services but few conversions; much machinery but few results."
